No, flash can only act as a client. You can't bind an IP address to act as a server.
You need to setup a server in another language and then redirect the data to the "host" flash application if you may need it.
Ok, this could be an incredibly stupid question, or it could get the thought firing. I don't know lol. We all know what flash can do and what any other computer language can do can be very versatile in what it can do. So the question right now is, is it possible to create a flash application to run on a users computer to send and receive data from another flash application designed for it.
As an example
The Host is running a host specified flash application on his computer which no one has, then other have a flash specified application which sends data to the specified host flash applicaiton and sends it out immediately or sends it to a server side script to deal with depending on the situation the host wants it to do.
Like i said. either a completely stupid question or somthing to get those thought active. and yes i know either way, it would be difficult to set up.
If this was possible what would be a great advantage. I know one thing would be not needing to translate data form script to script....(unless the database thing came into play.
What are your thought on this people?

Can someone point me to any tutorials for hand coding flash files?
Linux doesn't have a proper gui so all I have is the humble text editor.
